Krešimirac book

Project

The publication “Krešimirac Book”, dedicated to King Petar Krešimir IV Square, was conceived as a visual interpretation of the space it explores. Rather than adopting an illustrative approach, its graphic concept was developed from original urban planning documents, architectural drawings, cartographic materials and historical plans, which form the foundation of the visual identity.

Linear elements derived from the square’s original plans define the cover and chapter dividers, creating a graphic system rooted directly in the site’s spatial structure. A deep green palette refers to Krešimirac’s park-like character, while circular pagination subtly echoes the language of cartographic notation. A clear typographic hierarchy and editorial rhythm organise the content and reinforce the idea of moving through space.

The publication translates the square’s spatial, historical and visual layers into a coherent editorial system. It therefore becomes a spatial interpretation of Krešimirac in which content, form and the reading experience are closely interconnected.
