The publication “LAB’BEL: BOXED LAUGHTER” documents “Collector’s Edition Boxes”, a project launched in 2014 by the French food company Bel Group through its artistic laboratory, Lab’Bel. The series brings together twelve contemporary artists who reinterpret the iconic round packaging of The Laughing Cow® cheese.

The distinctive box became the starting point for the catalogue’s design. It opens by pulling a strip, replicating the mechanism of the original packaging, while its metallic cover recalls the reflective foil of the individually wrapped cheese portions. Like the artistic editions featured in the project, the catalogue moves beyond documentation to become a collectible object intended both to be preserved and handled.
Shorter pages inside evoke the French flag, while diagonal blue-and-white lines, stars and other elements drawn from the original packaging form a playful composition. The catalogue’s visual language connects the product’s established identity with the varied artistic approaches of the participating artists.
