Pokvirjenka zine

Project

Project “Pokvirjenka zine” is an educational publication on sexuality created for lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. It was developed in response to the lack of comprehensive sex education in Slovenian schools, where the topic is still largely reduced to pregnancy prevention, as well as to the shortage of resources addressing the sexual health of lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities, while LGBT organisations more often focus on gay men.

The publication aims to present the subject as engaging, accessible and enjoyable rather than dry or intimidating. Educational texts are therefore intentionally interwoven with erotic illustrations and poetry, creating a holistic approach in which sexual health is not treated as a purely medical or taboo subject, but as a normal and integral part of sexuality.

The publication is free of charge and relies strongly on illustration and design to make it visually appealing and to encourage readers to pick it up, keep it and return to it. Its visual language is tailored to the target audience: the cover does not feature a rainbow flag or explicitly name the intended readership, but instead refers to them through the title and design. “Pokvirjenka zine” exists exclusively as a printed artefact, creating a space in which sexuality is not censored or scandalised, but presented as healthy, positive and free.
