At Zagreb Design Week, KO:KE Space presents “Everyday Life Taken Away”, an exhibition by illustrator and animator Hana Tintor. The exhibition brings together a series of illustrations created during the COVID-19 lockdown in response to a simple question: what do we miss most when everyday life comes to a halt?

The project began with a conversation between the artist and a friend in Milan who, faced with the first restrictions, spoke about how much he longed to walk through his favourite park again. This moment prompted Hana Tintor to explore through illustration what people truly value when everyday freedoms become inaccessible. She gathered responses via Instagram, and instead of dreams of success or future ambitions, people spoke about simple desires: walking barefoot on grass, hugging loved ones, going to the beach, enjoying the sun, spending time together and feeling safe.

Six years later, the works are no longer only a record of an extraordinary period in recent history, but also a reminder of the values we so easily take for granted. The exhibition asks whether, in the accelerated rhythm of contemporary life, we have lost sight of what truly matters, inviting us to reconsider presence, togetherness, nature and the small rituals of everyday life.

Hana Tintor is an illustrator, author and animator of short animated films. She graduated in Visual Communication from the School of Design in Zagreb and in Illustration from Cambridge School of Art in the UK. Her work is recognisable for its playfulness, humour and strong narrative quality.
