Summer Eternal
Anthology Volume One

Project
Publication “Anthology Volume One”, published by Croatian publisher Summer Eternal Publishing, combines a book and a vinyl record. The book brings together interviews, essays and fiction by writers from the video game industry, including Mark Darrah, David Gaider and Argo Tuulik, alongside contributors such as Ted Chiang, Yanis Varoufakis and Richard Wolff. The texts address art, politics, economics, self-management and approaches to creating video games, music, literature and film.
The book contains 500 full-colour pages printed on Munken paper and has a print run of 5,000 copies. Simultaneous delivery via DHL SameDay is planned for pre-order customers. The edition also includes exclusive visual and musical material from Summer Eternal’s forthcoming video game, presented to all customers on the same day in a physical format and without requiring internet access.
The book is designed to resemble a matchbox and slides vertically from its outer sleeve. The record is produced by the Dutch pressing plant DeepGrooves using vinyl developed with an emphasis on reducing environmental impact. Its visual concept resembles a lighter, with yellow sparks spreading across the black surface.

Author
Summer Eternal is an artistic collective founded in Zagreb in 2025. It brings together video game creators who previously worked on “Disco Elysium”, alongside professionals from different areas of audio and visual production. Its members include composer Corvad, whose music appears in “The Batman”, and Betty Jiang, who created concept art for Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein”. The collective also includes the band Nemeček, producer Martin Tisanić and illustrator Dominik Zdenković.
Summer Eternal operates through an experimental organisational structure combining elements of a workers’ collective, consumer association, co-operative and corporation. Its working model and manifesto have attracted the attention of international video game media, while the collective has also been featured in publications including the Financial Times and The New York Times.
Before releasing its first game developed within this new structure, titled “Red Rooster”, the collective published “Anthology Volume One”, a book and vinyl record that expand the game’s world.
The collective is led by game director Argo Tuulik, winner of a BAFTA award for video game narrative; creative director Dora Klindžić, a physicist and writer whose work has appeared in Clarkesworld and Fireside; and chief operating officer Aleksandar Gavrilović, formerly head of Gamechuck and the CGDA.
