SKENER 1

Project

The magazine “SKENER 1” is the first issue of a periodical art publication exploring the visual language of the city. Each edition focuses on a particular city, such as Zagreb, Berlin or Amsterdam, documenting fragments of urban space that often go unnoticed.

Its content includes scans of walls, signs, posters, columns, noticeboards and other surfaces, alongside texts collected directly from the streets: handwritten messages, advertisements, graffiti, incidental phrases and thoughts by unknown authors. The publication presents the city as a collective medium through which people express ideas and emotions, communicate and leave traces.

Each new issue creates a visual record of another city, allowing different urban languages and forms of communication across Europe to be compared. The project was developed by Nika Stanko in 2025 as part of the Newspaper and Magazine Design course, under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Andro Giunio.
